Backer spells & stretch goal unlocked!

Lots has happened since my last update! We hit the $100K stretch goal and now there are two spell trackers included in the Game Ready, Core Box and Deluxe Box tiers.  

We also hit a social goal with over 100 comments on the campaign page - It's great to hear from you! This means that we will now open up backer spells for inclusion in the book so you can let your imagination run wild! Like the magic items submission for this will happen after the campaign closes when we will send out details of how to submit your spells for consideration. 

Down and Out in Kara Tibor...

Your next stretch goal is a short story written by Guy Adams. 

Down and Out in Kara Tibor introduces us to Tomadhi, a former hero who’s been around the houses and seen it all, the sort of guy people whisper stories about in bars throughout Valerna. A legend who claims to have faced down Tyverians and explored the fringes of the Fell Courts. Only, Tomadhi has fallen on hard times. Mostly, because he’s just about given up on life. In Kara Tabor, the City of the Crimson Spires, he’s eking out an existence in the fighting rings, taking punches and throwing fights in exchange for coin and drink. But when he finds himself facing off against Kristram, a young lad who dreams of proving himself strong enough to run with the gangs—maybe even the legendary Crimson Hawks themselves—Tomadhi finds himself drawn to helping the boy. Can a tired rogue still find a glimmer of humanity in his weary bones? And will Kristram thank Tomadhi for his own, particular brand of help?

Spontaneous Spellcasting

The spellcasting system first draft is finished and is entering the first round of testing. Our talented art team created this graphic to show some of the elements that are included in the new magic system. It's sure to cause maximum devastation! 

Spotlight on guest writer - Amy Vorphal 

Amy Vorpahl is a comedy content creator known for her big laughter. She has guested on “Critical Role” and “Dimension 20;” has written for Official D&D books, “Candlekeep Mysteries” and “Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons;” and is the Creative Director for Alchemy RPG’s world and campaign book “Dark Symmetry.” 

Amy's Item is the Circlet of Interruption, a Fai-based item that disrupts an opponents actions to give your party a strategic advantage.

How incredible, over 1000 backers and we are only on day 5. You guys are amazing! 

We are so close to unlocking our next stretch goal. This goal (unlocked at $100k), gives an extra dry wipe spell tracker in the game ready tier, core box tier and deluxe tier. These are perfect to help you craft and track your spells, and then you just wipe clean ready for the next time. 

We are also pretty darn close to hitting another social goal too - we need some more comments in the general Kickstarter section to unlock 5 new backer spells in the book. So drop us a comment, we love to hear what excites you about the book. 

Spotlight on - Ify Nwadiwe

Today I wanted to highlight another one of our special guest writers - Ify Nwadiwe. 

Ify Nwadiwe is a comedian, actor, writer, and professional nerd. He's written for Peacock's Twisted Metal, NBC's Grand Crew, and Respawn's Apex Legends. A Dropout regular and host, he's appeared on Dimension 20, Um, Actually, and Dirty Laundry. You can watch him perform live around LA! 

Ify is creating a magic item for Elyse's Guide to Magic. The Wings of the Whispering Fai, a bow that channels Dream magic to hit multiple enemies.

And speaking of Fai - the lore dump for this update is...

Dreamshaping

    The closest path to pure Fai magic that exists in Valerna, dreamshaping, the ancient art of silver elves, allows a mage to harness the power of imagination and transform the dreams and sensations of living beings. A dreamshaper can become invisible or intangible, accelerate their speed, or even “teleport” by walking between the subconscious thoughts and dreams of mortals. They can alter the perceptions of others, causing them to see (or not see) whatever the caster desires. Restricted in Allaria for a thousand years since its unfettered use triggered the cataclysm called the Dreambleed, dreamshaping has only recently seen a resurgence.

In Allaria, dreamshaping was kept alive by the allai – the honor elves – in secret “Shrouded Schools”. Now, however, since Qan Elyse called for an end to the stigma surrounding dreamshaping, there are several schools of magic devoted to teaching the safe practice of the ancient art, foremost among them the Royal Dreamshaping Academy of Allaria City. Dreamshaping has become so integral to the strength of Allaria, that the First Dreamshaper of the academy has a seat on the senate – a situation that even fifty years ago would have been unthinkable.

And finally - I just wanted to highlight the stunning deluxe book cover because it's one of my favourite things about this campaign and it's hard to appreciate how beautiful it is on the small thumbnails. 

This cover will be printed in metallic ink on a faux leather binding. It's going to look incredible.
